cultural variations in attachment AO3 Flashcards
1
Q
evaluation of cross cultural research - indigenous researchers (strength)
A
- most of the studies were conducted by indigenous psychologists
- indigenous psychologists are those from the same cultural background as the participants. this kind of research means that many of the potential problems in cross cultural research can be avoided, such as researchers’ misunderstandings of the language used by participants or having difficulty communicating instructions to them.
- this means there is an excellent chance that researchers and participants communicated successfully - enhancing the validity of the data collected
2
Q
evaluation of cross-cultural research - large samples (strength)
A
- ijzendoorn and kroonenberg’s study had a total of almost 2,000 babies and primary attachment figures.
- having large sample sizes increases the internal validity of the study by reducing the impact of anomalous results caused by a bad methodology or very unusual participants
