What was The Belin Blockade (1948)
Stalin blockaded transport, communication, links and supply lines into West Berlin (owned by USA, France and GB)
This prevented necessities and essen supplies from being given to citizens of W.Berlin
Why did the The Berlin Blockade happen
- formation of ‘Trizonia’ excluded USSR and made them look weaker as ‘Trizonia’ had stronger econ and faster development
- division in East Germany as W.berlin was in the East but it was stronger and richer so it made E.Berlin and E.Germany look weak

The West flew 170000 tonnes of supplies into w.berlin for the ppl:
- this was to keep w.berliners inside their area to reduce communism expansion (containment)
- to prevent starvation and poverty now happening in w.berlin
