Does not support any single political or economic system, supports just ways of living within any existing system.

What is the role of ownership in our modern world?
The ownership of private property plays a central role in our modern political, economic and cultural system.
What does the church teach in terms of ownership?
People have a right to own private property but this right is not absolute
What is the principle that the church teaches on ownership and its definition?
Universal Destiny of Good:
God gave the gift of the earth and its goods to all of us, our ownership of certain goods must not interfere with the ability of others to live, flourish and enjoy God’s gifts. We must consider the common good first.
What does the church teach about solidarity?
Individual goods must always serve the common good, must seek justice and act in solidarity with all of God’s children, both close to us and far away
What is a specific example of solidarity with the poor?
Preferential Option For the Poor:
Tells us that we must always consider the good and the needs of the poor and powerless when making decisions around economic and social issues. This reflects God’s concern for the poor and the need to include those who might otherwise not be heard.
What is proportional equity?
Asks us how we can most fairly distribute wealth and goods

What is the need requirement for proportional equity?
A decent, human standard of living must be maintained. People’s basic needs must be met, If they are not, there must be intervention.
What is the just wage requirement for proportional equity?
People must be paid well enough to meet their basic needs according to their situation
What is the effort and skill requirement for proportional equity?
Where possible the effort and skill required in a certain job ought to be rewarded in proportionally higher wages
What is the productivity requirement for proportional equity
Where possible the amount of good produced by a worker ought to be rewarded accordingly
