Improve the understanding of black culture among blacks. They were encouraged to recognise their African roots, to see themselves as different, to take pride in their history, their poetry, music, art and their appearance.
What was there a feeling of in the Black Power Movement?
They needed to live separate lives to the whites and many felt that this was the only solution.
After the death of 24 panthers in battles with the police what happened?
Leaders gave up violence and concentrated on their community programmes instead.
