How do you test for a non reducing sugar?

A
  1. get a new sample of the thing your testing
  2. add hydrochloric acid to break the bonds
  3. place in water bath for 5 mins
  4. slowly add sodium hydrocarbonate solution to neutralise
  5. Retest using BS and if there’s a colour change, NRS is present
  6. If there isn’t, there’s no reducing or non reducing sugar present
