The philosophy of ideology
What are the values expressed?
Refers to a diverse variety of beliefs, ideas, movements and agendas for action, guided
by the belief that women should be equal to men and are currently not. Feminism address
economic, social, political and cultural disparities of power and rights. This ideology
impacts on all three levels of society;
What is the micro impact?
Micro → impacts upon how you are raised and how your gender is treated within the
family unit, e.g. how the husband treats the wife, are domestic duties shared between
both genders of the family unit?
What is the meso impact?
Meso → e.g. division of sports and bathrooms on the basis of gender, co-ed vs.
single sex schools, how co-workers treat each other
What is the macro impact?
Macro → anti-discrimination laws vs. equal employment opportunities (even
though there are laws are women still discriminated against when seeking
employment?), country’s value on gender equality and pay gap
