a distinct personality pattern characterised by strict adherence, they believe in following social roles more likely to be obedient,

f scale used by adorno, if you agreed with this you had authoritarian personality, they were RIGID thinkers who OBEYED authority, saw world as blavk and white.
people who scored high in f scale, tended to be raised by parents who used authoritarian style parenting(physical punishment)

ALTEMEYER said high right wing authoritarianism people possess 3 important personality characteristics that move them to obedience:
-conventionalism- adherence to conventional norms and values (very traditional, not going out of box, do it even if you didn’t want too becaude it’s CONVENTIONAL) eg maybe being gay but being straught is conventional so they act straight.

authoritarian aggression- aggressive feelinsg towards people who violate norms (discriminating, racism)

each participant completed MMPI Scale and california F SCALE. and asked seruous of open ended questions, about relationship with parents during childhood. and about the experimenter and their attitude towards them
