What is in the wisdom section?
View, intention, and speech.
What’s in the meditation section?
Mindfulness, concentration, and effort.
What is in the Morality section?
Speech, action, and livlihood.
What does it mean to be mindful?
To be aware.
What does it mean to make the right effort?
Be positive.
What is an example of right livlihood?
Don’t take drugs or alcohol/obsess with hobbies (addiction) e.g. don’t listen to music or play video games too much, don’t consume too much alcohol.
What’s an example of right effort?
Getting rid of all negative thoughts e.g. don’t think “I have to go to work” think “I get to go to work!”
Whats an example of right mindfulness?
Be aware of yourself and your surroundings e.g. respond to the needs of others (charity) and find discover yourself (what makes me angry?)
What’s an example of right concentration?
Train your mind through meditation! E.g. Read the Dharma and meditate often every day in order to calm the mind gain insight.
What’s an example of right view?
Follow the teachings of the Buddha. If you don’t think about nature and suffering, you won’t progress towards enlightenment!
What’s an example of right intention?
Act on the Dharma for the right reasons e.g. make actions with kindness, non-attachmemt and wisdom.
What’s an example of right speech?
Don’t speak in harmful or negative ways e.g. don’t tell lies, don’t insult, and don’t gossip!
What’s an example of right action?
Act only in ways the Dharma permits e.g. don’t steal, don’t destroy/harm life, and don’t misuse the senses!
Why is the 8 fold path non-linear?
Because none of the steps are more important than the other - they are all equally as necessary for achieving enlightenment and Nibanna.
