This is a texture that cannot be felt, instead it is created by the artist.

This a technique when an artist paints so finely, and with such great detail that the artwork looks like a photograph. It is a type of visual texture.

Montage is when an artist pastes different images onto a surface to create illusionary texture.
What is frottage?
Frottage is a technique where the artist rubs a texture onto a flat surface to create illusionary texture.
