What is a positive shape?
Positive shape is the main shape of an artwork. It physically takes up space i.e. You cannot walk through it.
What is negative shape?
Negative shape is the space left over in an artwork. It does not take up physical space i.e. You can walk through it.
What is organic shape?
Organic shape is that of a natural, immeasurable object.
What is geometric shape?
Geometric shapes are mathematically perfect.
What is figurative shape?
Figurative shapes are recognisable shapes.
What are non-figurative/amorphous shapes?
Non-figurative/amorphous shapes are abstract, non-recognisable shapes.
What are complete shapes?
Complete shapes are figures where the line forming the shape starts and ends at a certain point.
What are incomplete shapes?
Incomplete shapes are figures where the line forming the shape does not start and end at the same point.
What is the definition of a shape?
Shape is the outline or form of an object.
It is an area enclosed by a line.
