Bold:
Thickening of the text. Used to emphasise and bring attention to a section of text.
Italics:
Slanting of the text. Used to emphasise and bring attention to a section of text.
Underline:
Underlining of the text. Used to emphasise and bring attention to a section of
text.
Alignment:
Setting of text along margins relative to the page. Forms of alignment include
centre, left and right justification.
Indents:
Movement of first line of text further than the margin, indicating the beginning of a
new paragraph. Executed by pressing TAB.
Bullets:
Bullet points can be used to stylise lists and create hierarchy..
Numbers:
Numbers can be used to stylise lists and create hierarchy.
Size:
Size of the text can be used to bring attention to particular words or phrases through
contrast (i.e. bigger words will be seen quicker than smaller words). For most documents,
headings are bigger than body text.
Colour:
the colouring of text can help bring attention to certain sections of the text through
contrast.

help the product to stand out and attract the attention of potential buyers
keeps consistency in design and layout of a piece, therefore increasing readability and ease
of navigation for the target audience of a multimedia product
designer/creator can specify or change the appearance of a chosen font in order to suit the
product
formatting fonts make presentation of a product better, making the product more accessible
