A

generic, premade vector images that are readily available online and through programs like Microsoft word
o Pre-made graphics composed of simple images (in both raster and vector formats) that illustrate concepts.
o Is small, wide variety, easily stored, easily transferred, are copyrighted and therefore limited in legal use (EG: clipart from Microsoft Word cannot be used by businesses making flyers or brochures due to copyright)

A

Scanners analyse and process images by shining light at target objects and directing the reflected light to a photosensitive element.
o Signals in the real world like light and sound are called analog. If they must be converted to digital data, then they must pass through a circuit called Analog-to-Digital Converter.
o When a scanner scans an image, it converts analog information provided by the image (light) and converts it to digital.
o The conversion of physical images into bitmaps through a scanner.

A graphics tablet is a computer input device that allows a user to hand-draw images/animations using a stylus, that functions similarly to a pencil.
o Input information is converted to digital information > graphic tablets allow for more accuracy than a mouse, or using your fingers
o precise and detailed editing
o reduces hand cramps, and for some people, carpal tunnel syndrome
o extremely sensitive and accounts for different pressure levels — level of paintbrush pressure o replaces computer mouse

A

Stock photographs are professional photographs that are licensed for specific uses, bought and sold royalty-free and used for commercial design purposes
o The use of stock photographs can be restricted by copyright, and may require payment in order for its usage.
Fair use, however, bypasses copyright by allowing stock images to be used for teaching, etc.
Amount of images may be restricted, there may be time conditions, may have exclusive conditions (no other companies can use it)

Image will not be unique; other companies might be
o may not find appropriate image/limited to set image, and time/money may be wasted looking for the image
o images may be copyrighted and may have to seek permission to use image
o may be unable to find an appropriate image, or image is of poor quality, or take longer to enhance quality
o thumbnail in image library may not link to larger or full resolution graphic
