Test taking strategies Flashcards
When to move on from questions
you DO NOT need to answer all 31 Quant questions to earn a top GMAT quant score
> know your strengths and weaknesses
> give your best attempt for 30-45 seconds, and if you’re still lost then make an educated guess and move on
> don’t waste your time and energy solving questions that you have a very low chance of answering questions and dropping the ball on questions that are within your ability
BUT don’t randomly throw away questions to catch up on time (because you might blindly be throwing away an easy question and get penalized heavily for missing it)
Also under no circumstances should you spend 3:45 minutes + on a question that has stumped you because you feel you should get it right
Leave time to answer EVERY question on the GMAT
you MUST answer ALL the questions presented in the GMAT; this is NON-NEGOTIABLE because otherwise, you will be harshly penalized
Easy way to measure your pace during the exam
QUANT - take the current number of questions remaining TIMES 2 = ideal number of minutes remaining on the clock
e.g., Question 4, should have 32-4 = 28 questions remaining * 2 mins per question = 56 minutes remaining on the clock
