Indus River-
River that the first civilization of India develops on (Harrapans).
Indo-Europeans-
AKA the Aryans, invade India after Harrapan downfall and move the civilization to the Ganges River, bring the idea of a caste system that Hinduism gets based on.

Mauryan Dynasty-
First rulers to unify much of India and conquer most of it with their strong military, started with Chandragupta Maurya but was short lived
Gupta-
Empire that takes over after the Kushans, they lead India through a golden age, in which little warfare allows for new innovations in mathematics and astronomy
Ashoka-
Brutal Mauryan conquerer who converts to Buddhism and ends his violent ways and combines his edicts and laws with Buddhism
Hinduism
Religion in which a strict social class system exists, and the Gupta use this to maintain order since they are militarily weak.
Karma-
Reward or punishment for your deeds
Dharma-
The duties of your caste level, if you do your duties you will be rewarded in the next life.
What makes Buddhism different from Hinduism?
Buddhism rejects the caste system, and does not focus on worshipping deities as much
