Farming required many different tools, including Irrigation and metal tools, which were more useful than stone. Also, agriculture allowed for certain people to specialize in different fields, suck as jewelers and politics, which allowed more time for new inventions to be created.

They were respected before because they are fertile and gatherers, afterwards they are valued just because of their fertility which is needed to create a larger population, so they become less valued than before the Neolithic revolution as the men do all of the jobs.
