MDD DX Criterias
Criteria A: 5+ sxs, occurs at least 2 weeks, 1 or 2 must be present
Criteria B: Distress or Impairment
Criteria C: Exclusion criteria-> Nor due to another mental disorder, medical condition or drug
Criteria A (9sx)
- Dysphoric Mood
- Anhedonia
- Weight loss/gain or Appetite change
- Insomnia or Hypersomnia everyday
- Psychomotor agitation or Retardation
- Fatigue or Loss of energy
- Feelings of worthlessness or Excessive/Inappropriate guilt
- Diminished ability to think/concentrate or indecisiveness
- Recurrent thoughts of death, Suicidal ideation, Suicide attempt, or Specific plan for committing suicide
Dysphoric Mood def
Depressed mood most of the day, nearly everyday , as indicated either by subjective report (e.g. feels sad, empty, or irritable) or observation made by others
Anhedonia def
Markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all, or almost all activities, most of the day, nearly every day.
Insomnia def
Trouble falling/staying asleep
Hypersomnia
Prolonged nighttime sleep/excessive daytime sleepiness even though one slept at night
Stress-Diathesis Model
Some people have vulnerability factors that may increase the risk for depression
- Include: Personality, Cognitive style, Early life adversity, Genetic predisposition
