What is illness behavior?
How people monitor their bodies, define and interpret their symptoms and take remedial actions and use the resources in the health care system. Personal history, social situations, social norms, and past experiecnes affect illness behavior.

Patient perceptions of symptoms and the nature of the illness
External variables influencing illness behavior
visibility of symptoms, social group, cultural bckground, economic variables, accessibility of healthcare system and social support

mental image of strengths and weaknesses in all aspects of personality

multiadult households, skip generation families, communal groups with children, non famililes,
