definition:
caused by laceration, bleeding, adhesion, aseptic inflammatory change in tendon of extensor muscle at the origin of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus due to chronic strain.

Clinical features
1) pain all over the lateral aspect of the elbow
2) limited ROM of forearm (extension/flexion)
Etiology
overuse} obstruction of Qi and EARLY
strain }–>damage —> blood in local area—>pain—>acute/SHI
sprain } bone and |
injury } tendon long term illness—>Qi/blood xu—>LATE
chronic/mixed
common for people who:
1) play tennis
2) heavy labour
3) computer workers
4) factory workers
- common in middle aged who are Qi and blood xu but still need to work
- usually dominant arm
Dx tools?
1) type of work
2) clinical features
3) palpate tenderness (LU/LI meridians)
4) x-ray (rule out broken bones)
differentiation
golfers/student elbow= medial humeral epicondylitis, site of origin pf wrist flexor
patterns:
1) Qi/blood stg
2) Qi/blood xu

Alternative remedies
1) herbs (herbal plaster= Die da feng tong Gao)
2) electro 10Hz-30Hz (tonify), 50Hz-100Hz (pain)

Education
prevention:
1) use heat pack (keep warm)
2) avoid overuse
Tx duration
acute= 3-5x chronic= 5-10x
2x-every/week
