Techniques for UL Rehab after ABI Flashcards

1
Q

CIMT

A

= Constraint induced movement therapy
- principe of forced use of impaired limb by affecting non affected limb 90% of the waking hours
- task oriented training w/ Lot of repetitions
- top down approach
-> create a exercise where the patient choose himself to use his injured limb
- release of BDNF

Q

MVF

A

= Mirror visual feedback
- complementary form of motor learning strategy Mental practice/training method
- observation in mirror of mvt of non-affected limb -> mentally build a mvt => help activation of lesioned cortical areas (M1, S1) -> repeat mvt by affected limb
-> reduce pain
-> impr. motor control

For patient with very little to none mvt in the arm/leg

Q

AO

A

= Action observation (of an action before execution)
=>Mental practice training
- complementary form of motor learning strategy
-> facilitate imitation
- Facilitate the activity in SMA & M1
