What is a Technical Manual for?
It is a publication that addresses the use and maintenance of equipment. Technician familiarization with TM is paramount.
They can address more than one specific piece of equipment. They can contain more than one volume, part, or section.
Chapter contents, arrangement & depth of info may vary from TM to TM.
What does TM stand for?

Describe conventional manual arrangement
Sectionalized and each section normally addresses a phase of maintenance. (a timeline)
Describe work package manual arrangement
Functionally assembled document, arranged in the general order of work flow and grouped in small units covering individual tasks.

What does IPB stand for?

What are the two functions of an IPB?
- To provide a drawing or photograph of the system, equipment and parts/modules
- supply information (part #’s or National Stock Numbers (NSNs)
What is a tickler file?
It’s an alert to notify the librarian there are changes to publications received but not yet incorporated into the publication
