Teaching Lesson 10 Flashcards

Q

Aerodynamics Demo

A
  • 85 knots trimmed level flight*
  • Rudder: Roll due to yaw (bc outside wing is moving faster and creating more lift)
  • Rudder: Turning, can use trim (helps establish rudder as a primary flight control)
  • Aileron: Adverse yaw, can rock the wings with 30-40 degree bank for exaggeration (bc of increased lift/induced drag on wing with lowered aileron)
  • Aileron: Turning (note seat of the pants feel)
  • Rudder/Aileron Combo: Nose of a/c should appear to pivot on a point during roll in, and track along the horizon in the direction of the turn (should feel as if your weight is being pulled straight down through the floor)
  • Anytime aileron is used, rudder must be used as well*
