Teaching Lesson 10 Flashcards
1
Q
Aerodynamics Demo
A
- 85 knots trimmed level flight*
- Rudder: Roll due to yaw (bc outside wing is moving faster and creating more lift)
- Rudder: Turning, can use trim (helps establish rudder as a primary flight control)
- Aileron: Adverse yaw, can rock the wings with 30-40 degree bank for exaggeration (bc of increased lift/induced drag on wing with lowered aileron)
- Aileron: Turning (note seat of the pants feel)
- Rudder/Aileron Combo: Nose of a/c should appear to pivot on a point during roll in, and track along the horizon in the direction of the turn (should feel as if your weight is being pulled straight down through the floor)
- Anytime aileron is used, rudder must be used as well*

Q
What are the Fundamentals of Flight?
A
- Straight and Level
- Turns (shallow, medium, hard)
- Climbs (Vx, Vy, CC)
- Descents (partial power, glides)
