Takeoffs/Landings Flashcards
1
Q
Soft-Field Takeoff and Climb
A
- Flaps 10
- Taxi onto runway while applying back pressure and using minimal brakes
- Align a/c with center line without coming to a full stop
- Apply full throttle
- Adjust back pressure to lift off as soon as possible
- Settle a/c into ground effect and accelerate to 62 or 74
- Pitch up and climb away at 62 or 74
- Above 60 positive rate flaps up
2
Q
Soft-Field Landing
A
- Begin round-out smoothly transitioning to landing pitch attitude
- USE A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF POWER TO HOLD A/C IN GROUND EFFECT (dissipating fwd airspeed)
- Touchdown at slowest speed possible
- Hold nose wheel off ground as long as possible
3
Q
Short-Field Takeoff and Climb
A
- Position a/c for maximum runway availability
- Apply brakes and add full throttle
- Check engine instruments
- Release brakes
- Liftoff at POH computed airspeed
- Pitch a/c up to climb out at POH computed airspeed until clear of 50’ obstacle
- Maintain positive rate of climb and accelerate to 74 (Vy)
- Above 60 positive rate flaps up
4
Q
Short-Field Approach and Landing
A
- Chose aiming and touchdown point
- Touchdown on main gear at MCA
- Smoothly apply max wheel AND aerodynamic braking to stop in shortest distance possible
5
Q
180 Power-Off Accuracy Approach and Landing
A
- Abeam touchdown point, throttle idle
- Pitch for 68 (best glide)
- Position base leg closer/farther from approach end of rwy based on wind conditions
- Use flaps when you know you’re going to make the runway
- Forward slip if neccesary
- Touchdown on main gear at MCA
