Shorter hospital stays, increase demand of RN, increase of chronically ill patients, general public expects instruction, giving acute patients good information.* all means we need to have quality of teaching not quantity

purpose of patient education
maintenance and promotion of health and illness prevention, restoration of Health, coping with impaired functions
what is the Joint Commission ask patience to do?
Speak up and pay attention to the care you get by educating yourself about disease, ask friend family member to be your advocate, know your meds, speak places that are accredited, participate in all decisions for treatment.
