Question 1

1. Perform care under fire procedures

7. Treat inguinal wound w pressure dressing

a. Expose injury and check for exit
b. Pack with combat gauze – verbalize 3 min hold
c. Ensure gauze is 1-2in above skin (add more if needed) and flex the knee (slightly)
d. Feed cravat under casualty’s belt and tape free running end of cravat to lower leg
e. Ensure belt is tight
f. Place elastic bandage over the dressing, leaving a tail
g. Wrap the wound circumferentially, ensuring all packing material is covered and that the elastic bandage is over the top of the free running end of the cravat
h. Continue to wrap the wound on alternating sides of the tail – cover all packing material – tie a non-slip know with the free running end of the elastic bandage and tail
i. Pull the free end of the cravat towards belt and secure with a non-slip knot and straighten the leg.
j. Tape that shit (3” tape min 1-1.5 x around)
k. Swathe legs together(2-3” above knee)
l. Continue bleeding assessment

8. Treat axillary wound w pressure dressing

a. Expose site
b. Pack with combat gauze – verbalize 3 min hold
c. Ensure gauze ends 1-2” (add more if needed)
d. Place 6” elastic bandage over shoulder – leaving tail parallel to arm on injured size with remainder wrap the wound covering all packing material going in the ANTERIOR direction
e. Pull elastic bandage over shoulder leaving tail parallel to arm on injured side, with remainder wrap the wound cover all packing material going in anterior direction
f. Maintaining tension wrap across back, anchoring on the opposite shoulder in figure 8 pattern
g. Secure in a non-slip knot w remainder of elastic bandage tails
h. Secure elastic bandage tails and know w 3” tape wrap min 1-1.5x
i. Swathe arm to torso
j. Continue to assess wound for further bleeding

9. Treat neck wound using a pressure dressing

a. Expose and check for exit wound
b. Pack w combat gauze and verbalize 3 min pressure hold
c. Ensure gauze extends 1-2” above skin (add more if needed)
d. Place 6” ace wrap over dressing leaving a tail. Wrap bandage covering packing material in anterior direction under opposite arm
e. Continue to wrap around neck and under arm – applying pressure – cover packing material
f. Secure w non-slip know
g. Secure elastic bandage w 3” tape wrapping 1-1.5x
h. Swathe arm to torso
i. Continue to assess wound for further bleeding
