- Take actions to prevent hypothermia
a. Drape hypothermia prevention and management kit (HPMK) or blizzard blanket
b. Log roll casualty and place on litter
c. Place active heating blanket on casualty’s anterior torso and under arms in axillae
d. Minimize exposure to cold ground, wind and air temp
e. Pace active heating blanket on the casualty’s anterior torso and under arms in the axillae
f. Enclose w exterior impermeable enclosure bag
- Initiate electronic monitoring of the patient
do it
- Administer meds
a. Option 1
i. Mild/moderate pain, still able to fight
ii. TCCC combat wound med pack (CWMP)
iii. Tylenl 500, meloxicam 15mg
b. Option 2
i. Mild/moderate pain, NOT IN SHOCK or RESP Direstres, AND not sig risk of either
ii. Transmucosal fentanyl 800 micrograms
c. Option 3
i. Moderate/severe pain
ii. IS in SHOCK/RESP Distress OR SIG risk of either
iii. Ketamine 30mg IV/IO push q 20min PRN
iv. End points – control of pain or nystagmus
- Administer abx
a. All open wounds
b. If PO tolerant – moxifloxican 400mg, if NOT PO tolerant – ertapenem 1gm IV/IM
