Talk To Frank Evaluation Flashcards
Why is it difficult to measure the effectiveness of drug campaigns?
Because firstly there are many reasons why people may change their health behaviours other than the campaign and secondly it is difficult to measure whether young people are taking less drugs. Eg, social opinions may change on a certain drug.
Evidence that it is successful?
there is evidence to suggest that many young people are accessing the campaign, for example the FRANK helpline receives an average of 1,350 calls a day and the website is well used.
What other quantitative measures can show that FRANK is having a effect?
other quantitative measures of health related behaviour such as death rates and drug consumption can be statistically verified.
Evaluate the FRANK logo.
Studies have also shown that the FRANK logo is well recognised by young people and their parents. In 2008 it was found that 89% of 11 to 21 year olds recognised the FRANK adverts and 82% knew about the website.
What was FRANK criticised over?
It has been argued that early on the campaign by focusing on the harm associated with drugs such as heroin and cocaine led to the assumption that cannabis was therefore safe. However a more recent television campaign has focused on the negative effects of cannabis
Evaluate in terms of what the campaign is based on.
The campaign is based upon the Yale Model of Persuasion which has experimental support showing the effectiveness of presenting both sides of the debate.
