- To ensure that young people understand the risks and dangers of drugs and their use.

What are the last two key aims of FRANK?
- To give parents the confidence and knowledge to talk to their children about drugs.
- To support professionals who work with young people, especially vulnerable groups.
How does the campaign appeal to younger people?
The campaign is made to be accessible and appealing to younger people (for example by using humour) whilst ensuring that the there are resources available for parents who can back up the messages of the campaign.
How does the campaign appear honest?
An attempt is made to present information honestly. This involves being realistic about the effects of drugs without using fear evoking messages or being too humorous.
Why was the name FRANK used?
The name FRANK was chosen as it sounded honest and straight talking. It was thought that people would be more likely to talk to FRANK because it appears non-judgemental.
What psychological applications inform the FRANK campaign?
For example the campaign attempts to effectively inform people about the dangers of drugs without alienating the users themselves by making drug users look too weak or undesirable. This is based upon the Yale Model of Persuasion which involves presenting both sides of the argument.
