Gen 4 Stinger FMP advanced IRCCM, rosette and circular scan
Gen 5 Stinger block 2 imaging sensors (centroid or edge tracking)
Switches
Spatial: I was tracking one IR source but now there’s two
Spectral: I was tracking something cold but now it’s hot.
Kinematic: I was tracking something fast but now it’s slow.
Temporal: Nothing target like can get that hot that fast.
Responses
SIMPLE MEMORY: If a flare is ejected the seeker holds its look FOV for a certain amount of time. If the flare leaves the FOV it will continue tracking the target, of it stays in the FOV it will likely track the flare.
SEEKER PUSH AHEAD: the seeker will push the FOV ahead of the targets track to try and remove the flare from the FOV and then reacquire the target.
SEEKER PUSH PULL: assumes the flare is hotter than the target, gimbal pushes the FOV away from the hotter signature and pulls it to the cooler IR signature
SECTOR ATTENUATION:places a filter on part of the FOV (such as below and behind the target) and tells the seeker to be less sensitive to signatures there.
ELECTRONIC FOV GATING: used in conjunction with noncircular seeker scans, the missile computes the relative motion of the target to know which lobe the target should appear in and ignores information from other lobes.
TIME PHASE BLANKING: the array sends multiple pulses out and rejects pulses that come back at times that don’t match the target.
