Systems (Book 2) Flashcards
DMC
Define
Display and Mission Computer
SMP
Define and explain
- Stores Management Processor
- Informs DMC’s of current stores inventory & status
DMC modes
- Primary: PDMC is avionics bus controller, drives the HUD & both DEPs (SDMC act as a remote terminal on the bus)
- Secondary: SDMC has failed (PDMC sweet)
- Reversionary: PDMC has failed, SDMC has taken over as Avionics bus controller
What datalink channel will be set after a PDMC reset
102
Which DMC’s manage which MFD’s
- PDMC manages front cockpit
- SDMC manages rear cockpit
If a DMC fails, the other will manage all six
When is MENU2 boxed amber
When the MDLRS has 20min recording time left
Which systems are powered when PROBES switch is on
- AoA probe heaters
- Pitot/static heaters
- Smart probe heaters
If weight-off-wheels:
- TOAT probe as well
115VAC
What does a VV with a vertical fin, fixed on the LFD indicate
Drive data to aircraft symbol invalid
Pitch ladder still valid
At what altitude will “STD” be displayed in the HUD millibar display
> 28,800’
1013.25 used above this even if 1013 is set
MFD stuck key indication
If stuck for >10sec, the MFD indicates FAIL on the Status page. Only the stuck key is inoperative though
MDLRS
Define
Mission Data Loading & Recording System
Comprised of DTC and MDLRU
MDLRS Record time capacity
180mins
CSMU
Define
- Crash Survivable Memory Unit
- Contains FDR and CAR
FDR: 10hrs, CAR: 1hr
What flight/config conditions are required to enable autopilot engagement
- LG selected up
- Speed 200-500KCAS/0.85M
- Altitude between 1,000’ and 48,000’
- Pitch <35deg
- Roll <70deg
- Vertical speed <18,000fpm
- No autopilot failure
When will autopilot automatically disengage
- A/P failure
- If in ALT hold, deviation >+-200’
- Roll angle >70deg
How to electrically isolate the autopilot
Raise the standby trim cover
Only works inflight (isolation inhibited on the ground)
General input limitations when Autopilot engaged
- Must be trimmed before engagement
- Stick/rudder inputs prohibited (unless SFCO is necessary)
- Pitch trim inputs not permitted
- Combat flap is the only flap setting allowed
Default radio/antenna allocation
- COM1: upper
- COM2: lower
How long will ident squawk after pushing ID
Approx 30sec
TCAS assumed pilot response delay time
- Initial instruction : 5sec
- Change to a previous instruction: 2.5sec
TCAS display inner ring size
2nm radius (regardless of scale)
Hidden on 40nm scale
TCAS RA inhibit time post GPWS warning
10sec
TCAS vertical scan extent
+/- 12,700’ from ownship alt
When is TCAS forced into TA mode
- Alt <1,000’AMSL
- Greater than +-45deg AoB for 0.5sec
- Greater than +-60deg pitch for 0.5sec
- During/10sec after a GPWS activation
Manouvering TCAS fail triggers
- Altitude change of >325’ in 5sec
- Abrupt climb/descent >11,700fpm
Limitation on TCAS use with pylon mounted stores
TA mode only
Due unachievable RoC above 22,000’
Parameters for disregarded TCAS contacts
- <10,000’AGL: closure above 500kts disregarded
- > 10,000’AGL: above 1,200kts disregarded
- Contacts <200’AGL
- Mode C aircraft at low level
- Contacts with RoC greater than 10,000fpm
RADHAZ for all antenna
2m omnidirectional
Except RADALT: 30deg downwards, all round
Caution regarding MASS and AIM9L seeker head
Risk of damage to the seeker head if MASS is set to SAFE inflight
RADALT Envelope
- Below 5000’AGL
- 30deg Pitch
- 50deg Left, 40deg Right AOB
