Systemic Circulation Flashcards
What is the blood supply to the thoracic cage?
posterior intercostal
subclavian –> internal thoracic –> anterior intercostal
subcostal
What is the portal vein formed by?
splenic vein
superior mesenteric vein
inferior mesenteric vein
What is the blood supply to the head and neck?
right common carotid
- right internal carotid (carotid sinus = O2, body = BP)
- right external carotid
right subclavian
- right vertebral
What is the blood supply in the brain?
vertebral
basilar
posterior cerebral (posterior communicating)
internal carotid –> middle cerebral
anterior cerebral (anterior communicating)
- Circle of Willis
What is drainage of the brain and head?
internal jugular vein –> subclavian vein –> SVC (brain)
external jugular vein –> subclavian vein –> SVC (head)
brachiocephalic vein –> SVC (head)
What are the branches of the external carotid artery?
right common carotid artery
- facial artery
- superficial temporal artery
What is the blood supply to upper limb?
subclavian –> axillary (thoracic cage, scapula)
brachial –> deep artery of arm = posterior
brachial = anterior
brachial –> radial and ulnar arteries –> palmar arch
- radial (1-2) / ulnar (3-5)
What are the veins of the upper limb?
basilic vein (ulnar) –> axillary vein
cephalic vein (radial) –> median cubital –> cephalic
What is the blood supply of the lower limb?
internal iliac –> obturator
external iliac –> femoral, deep artery of thigh, perforating branches
femoral (adductor hiatus) –> popliteal
- posterior tibial
- anterior tibial –> dorsalis pedis
What are the veins of the lower limb?
femoral –> long saphenous –> short saphenous
