Coronary/Pulmonary Circulation Flashcards
What are the structures from fetal to adult circulation?
foreamen ovale –> fossa ovale
ductus arteriosus –> ligamentum arteriosum
- oxygenated blood from placenta (skip lungs)
What are the major coronary arteries?
right coronary – marginal artery
left coronary – circumflex, anterior interventricular, posterior interventricular
What are the major coronary veins?
anterior cardiac veins (drain into right atrium)
small cardiac vein (drain into coronary sinus)
middle cardiac vein
great cardiac vein
How do you treat coronary artery disease?
- use veins for bypass grafts to avoid blockages
- balloon inflated to expand stent
What are the major parts of the aorta?
ascending, arch, descending (thoracic/abdominal)
What are the branches of the ascending aorta?
left and right coronary arteries
What are the branches of the arch of the aorta?

- right common carotid + right subclavian artery
left common carotid
left subclavian artery
What are the branches of the thoracic aorta?
posterior intercostal arteries
bronchial arteries
esophageal arteries
pericardial arteries
What are the branches of the abdominal aorta?
celiac trunk
superior/inferior mesenteric arteries
inferior phrenic arteries
renal arteries
gonadal arteries
lumbar arteries
common iliac artery
