Types of immunotherapy

A

Active non-specific immunotherapy:
- IFN, IL-2, BCG, other cytokines

Active specific

  • patient is immunized using tumor antigens as a vaccine.
  • promising investigations for active, specific immunization in melanoma and kidney cancers.

Passive:

  • Anti-tumor antibodies or activated lymphocytes administered to the patients
  • Monoclonal antibodies - Bevacizumab, Cetuximab, etc.
