Pancreatic cancer Flashcards
Treatment
Surgery if possible but only possible in about 10-20%
Follow surgery with adjuvant chemo (europe) or chemoradiotherapy (US)
Treat with chemo => Gemcitabine or capecitabine
If no progression –> Chemoradiotherapy.
Stereotactic Radioablative RT is showing promising results as a neoadjuvant pre-op treatment, and is also useful for the chemoradiotherapy following the first chemo if the tumor is responsive.
Palliative therapy;
stenting or palliative surgery of obstructed duct.
or palliative reinsertion of the biliary duct to duodenum.
Chemo drugs used in pancreatic cancer
FOLFIRINOX
5-FU, lucovorin, oxaliplatin, and Irinotecan.
or
Gemcitabine monotherapy for patients who cannot tolerate FOLFIRINOX.
