Screening programs

A

Breast:
- Mammograms every 2 years beginning at age 50. Do NOT begin before age 40.

Cervical cancer:

  • Pap smears cytology beginning age 25 every 3 years.
  • HPV testing starting at age 35, every 5 years

Colorectal cancer:

  • men and women starting at age 50, fecal occult blood test every 2 years.
  • colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy every 10 years.

Prostate cancer:

  • PSA screening program not standardized, but recommended for males aver age 50.
  • DRE also, but no standard times.
