What can cause SIADH?
Brain injury, infection, hypothyroidism, cancers, lung disease
What happens in SIADH?
ADH is inappropriately released causing water to be reabsorbed in the collecting duct
What are symptoms of SIADH?
Nausea and vomiting, headache, lethargy, cramps, weakness, confusion
What are signs of SIADH?
Raised JVP, oedema, ascites
What investigations would you do?
ADH levels, U&E, fluid status
What are sodium and potassium levels?
Low sodium, normal potassium
How do you manage SIADH?
Fluid restriction to increase osmolarity, treat underlying cause
What are potential complications?
Cerebral oedema, seizure, coma
What are plasma and urine osmolalities?
Plasma decreased, urine increased
