Differentiate between Heat vs Cold

A

Excessive Heat:
red face, irritable, fever, dark urine, constipation
T: red/crimson / P: rapid

Yin Deficiency:
red cheeks, hot flashes, night sweats
T: red with scanty coating / P: rapid, thready

Excessive Yin:
cold hands/feet/abdomen, colicky pain (on/off) pain in abdomen, dislike pressure and improved with heat

Yang Deficiency:
cold hands and feet, listlessness, fatigue, diarrhea, likes pressure and heat

Excessive: predominant of Evil Qi
- excess exterior pathogen attack
- internal accumulation of pathogenic factors (phlegm, fluid, blood stasis)

Deficient: weakness of Healthy Qi
- prenatal deficiency
- postnatal deficiency (malnourishment)
- chronic illness
