Describe Spleen Qi Deficiency

A

Cannot perform transform and transport

Etiology:
- bad diet of greasy, sweet foods
- chronic illness
- overthinking and over strain

Spleen Symptoms:
Poor appetite, loose stools, abdominal distention, edema, weight loss

Qi Deficiency Symptoms:
Fatigue, spontaneous sweating, worse after physical exertion, SOB

Describe Spleen Yang Deficiency

A

Cannot warm body and perform transform and transport

Etiology:
- further progression of SP Qi Def
- overeat raw cold foods
- KD yang def

Spleen Symptoms:
Poor appetite, loose stools, abdominal distention, abdominal pain relived by warmth and pressure, heavy limbs/edema, scanty urine

Deficiency Cold Symptoms:
Fear of cold, cold limbs, pale dull complexion

A

Etiology:
- further progression of SP Qi Def
- postpartum

Spleen Symptoms:
Loose stools (chronic diarrhea), frequent urination/defecation

Qi Sinking Symptoms:
Heaviness weighing down, organ prolapse, distention

A

Etiology:
Further progression of SP QI Def

Spleen Symptoms:
Poor appetite, abdominal distention, loose stools, spontaneous sweat, fatigue, pale complexion

Bleeding Symptoms:
Nosebleed, gum bleeding, early/heavy menstruation, hematuria

A

Insufficient Yin essence, not able to nourish the body and distribute fluid properly

Etiology:
- malnutrition
- recover from febrile disease
- over think/strain

Spleen Symptoms:
Burning epigastric and abdominal pain, weight loss

Yin Deficiency Symptoms:
Dry mouth and lips, dry heaves, emaciated, constipatoin

A

Excessive cold-damp obstruct Spleen, blocking Spleen Yang

Etiology:
- exterior cold
- bad diet of greasy and sweet foods

Spleen Symptoms:
Epigastric and abdominal distention, fullness with cold colicky pain, dislike pressure and prefers warmth

Cold-Damp Symptoms:
Pitting edema, heaviness of the body/limbs

Describe Damp-Heat in Spleen

A

Excessive dampness and heat obstruct Spleen, impairing transport and transform function

Etiology:
- exterior damp-heat (tropical climate)
- overeating hot, spicy foods

Spleen Symptoms:
Epigastric and abdominal distention, dislike pressure and heat, vomiting, nausea

Damp-Heat Symptoms:
Heaviness of the body/limbs, dark yellow scanty urine, edema
