the case was around the facts that texas no longer wanted to use affirmative action and base uni admissions off of race.
this was sticked down but the supreme court upholding stare decisis of the grutter v bollinger case which was a 2003 case which upheld affirmative action in univeristy admissions
what was schuttee v constiution to defend affirmative action
upheld michigan’s decision to make it unconsitutional to use affrimative action in policy making and decisions was ruled as consitutional allowing the states to have increased power to restrict racial equality

struck down aspects of arizonas law which would require immigrants to carry registation documents
upholidng facts that based on immigration federal law is higher than state made law

court upheld trump’s travel ban on immigration from 12 musilum majoirty countries as constiutional and that he was well within his exectuive right to do so as the order didnt include anythign about religion

DACA was a policy created in 2012 and was reinforced by 2014 executive order that provided refleif from deportation and education fro immigrant children

biden has created EO which bans discriminatory bans; on entry to the US and stregnthened DAPA and DACA
why cant presidnts actions really protect rights of immigrants
- without the power of making legisation the use of EO is unreliable as they cna be overturned and they arent intrenched
depends on the predient as to how EO will be used to protect rights

how can congressional representation protect rights
representation of ethnic minorties is vilat as the voices of ethnic minorties cna be represented
117th congress most representative with 23% being from ethnic minoirty backgrounds
hispanic americans make up 40% of population nd 13% of congress

voting rights act in 2006 renewed and upheld for another 25 years

how can congressional representation not help
despite represetnation many acts protecting ethnci minoirty rights have been blocked
such as obama’s DREAM act which would proivide resdiency and right to work for immigrants was never passed into law
simialrly senate representation is low with only 11/1000 senator sbeing from ethnic minoirty background
