how can you apply Halls theory of stereotypes to the superhumans advert
inequalities of power mean that Paralympians are usually stereotyped as being able to do anything despite their disability when they are unable to do very simple things such as going into cafes due to poor wheelchair access.
some people may think that Paralympians don’t have to train as hard because the games ‘cater to them’ but they most likely have to train harder than most athletes
this is due to inequalities of power that have occured in the industry for many years
many things in our everyday lives were designed without disabled individuals in mind or without consulting them, which means that there are many things that require re desiging
what was the quote from the ad that was a play on words
‘to be a Paralympian, there’s got to be something wrong with you’
what was the other bus stop ad that was a play on words (superhumans)
‘its rude not to stare’
why is it important for disabled people to be seen in all aspects of the media
to stop disabled people from being stereotyped and help to change attitudes towards disability
what is meant by the term ‘cripping up’
when an able bodied character plays a disabled role e.g. Dr Sean Murphy from the good Doctor”I AM A SERGEON”, Will Traynor from Me before you or Auggie from wonder
what representations of disabled people are seen in the media
Frank from Tracy Beaker, Cerrie Burnell who was a children’s tv presenter, Ollie in am I being unreasonable
BBC has quite positive representations of disabled people as their character isn’t centered around their disability
how can Roland Barthes theory of status of myth be used in the super humans advert
the people seen in the advert subvert the status of myth that disabled people cannot do anything
