purpose
A
- the ability to write a shortened version of the original passage
- by the end there should be no unnecessary information
- should mirror the original in regards to factual content
- can not include our opinion or information that is not given

how to tackle
A
- read the instructions (they are not negotiable)
- process instructions and then read the passage
- read the passage again and underline important information
- limit excess words by only using main ideas, remove examples, figures of speech, and unnecessary adjectives and adverbs
- use your own words

A
- each point must be a full and grammatical sentence
- points must make sense
- one idea per sentence
- do not repeat points already made

fluent summary
A
- follow instructions on how many paragraphs are required
- coherent sentences, fluently connected with conjunctions and appropriate punctuation
- may me required to provide an appropriate title (do not however unless asked for, must be included in that word count)
