High priority warning signs of suicide
- Threatening to kill themselves
- Actively looking for ways to kill themselves
- Talking or writing about death, dying or suicide
Low priority warning signs of suicide
Hopelessness; anger/ revenge seeking; risky behaviours; feeling trapped; increased drug and alcohol use; social withdrawal; anxiety/agitation/sleep disturbances; mood changes; no purpose or reason to live

Understanding choices: I hear
Assisting life: I’ll help
Psychological first aid: I care
Invitations to show that you care
How and why do you accept the invitation?
Actions: withdrawal, self harm,misuse of alcohol and drugs
Words: no hope, self depreciating
Feelings: desperate, guilty, lonely, sad
Physical: disturbed sleep, lack of interest, change or loss of apetitie
Be clear and ask about suicide directly and clearly
Why? To show you do not think badly, that you care

Turning points: Emotionally charged moment when the life side comes out.
