Elderly
alcoholic patients
- due to brain atrophy and therefore fragile or taut bridging veins.
how do chronic subdural haemorrhages normally present?
weeks to months of either confusion, reduced consciousness or neurological deficit.
Management of chronic subdural haemorrhage
if small/ no neuro deficit then conservative mx
If confusion/neuro deficit/ mass effect
= surgical decompression with burr holes
