What cancers are associated with Lambert-Eaton syndrome?
A
- small cell lung cancer
- breast and ovarian cancer
- may also occur independently as an autoimmune disorder.

What are antibodies directed against in Lambert-Eaton syndrome?
A
presynaptic voltage-gated calcium channel in the peripheral nervous system

Clinical features
A
- repeated muscle contractions lead to increased muscle strength (in contrast to myasthenia gravis)
- muscle strength will eventually decrease=> limb-girdle weakness
- hyporeflexia
- autonomic symptoms: dry mouth, impotence, difficulty micturating

Management of Lambert-Eaton syndrome
A
- Tx underlying cancer
- Immunosuppression (steroids/ azathioprine)
- IV Ig/plasma exchange
