Q

Are there gender-based psychological differences?

A

Yes, men and women have different levels of hormons. Men have been known to be more aggressiv the women and men tend to be better att spatial abilities. But its hard to say their are biological differences and the differences between the genders that are not biological they could actually be something that the culture and environment has evoked and not something that really has to do with the gender.

Q

Explain the modern way of looking at masculinity and femininity.

A

The modern way is to look at the biological differences such as hormones, or brain structure. We don’t look at differences in the same way any more, because we are trying to reach a more equal society. We understand that the differences we usually see are because of social expectations and social structures in our society and not because of the sex itself

Q

What is “doing gender”?

A

Doing gender is something that Dan Zimmerman came up with. It’s the idea that sex is not a trait. But because we live in a world where we are constantly socially trained with behaviour that emphasis what is femininity and what is masculinity the sex(gender) has now become a product of that. Its not genetically but rather a social construct
