What is ethnocentrism
You evaluate others culture form your one cultures point of view,

Emic: it focuses on a single culture, its culture specific. outsider looking in.
Etic: it looks across cultures, to find something universal or not universal, comparing culturs.
How are collectivistic cultures different from individualistic cultures?
Collectivistic: group focused, live in larger groups, taking care of the family, you see yourself from the position you have in the family, i’m a son, i’m a wify
ndividualistic: emphasize autonomy and independence. Perceiving themselves as unique, worthy, intelligent , attractive and competent.

Language influences us a lot because we perceive situations in a certain way depending on how we interpret the the language and how we choose to interact with others.

the family is where much of our personality develops and continues to develop even after we are mature.
Discuss the differences between Western theories of personality and the Confucian theory
Confucian: its family focused, your not defined by your own traits but rather from a family outlook. You evolve your personality/self by taking care of the family.
Western theories are more focused on the individual and you grow as a person when you focus on yourself and become independent.
