Q

Narrative frame

A

Allows readers to form their own opinions about Victor and the monster.

We first believe that the monster is a horrific beast however once we hear his side of the story we get to see why he did what he did.

Same with Victor. Victor is called a “wonderful man” but in the creatures narrative he curses Victor despising the man.

The use of multiple narratives allow shelley to teach us a moral lesson on over ambition . Through Victor and the monsters tale Walton gives up his quest in fear of suffering Victors same fate.

Light symbolism

A

Lighting inspires Victor to work with electricity . The lightning “utterly destroyed” a huge oak tree . The violent nature of lightning could also be referring to Victors over ambition
