Explain the assessment of stroke patient treatment?

A

Check whether the patient has an ongoing neurological deficit? If no, then reinvestigate

If yes, Then has the onset been more than 4.5 hours/unkown? Arrange admission

If less that 4.5h, give CT san and contact stroke bleep.

A

Hemicraniectomy:
For those over 60 with acute MCA ischaemic stroke within 48hours of onset

A

Antiplatelets:

  • Clopidogrel 75mg
  • Aspirin 75g + Dipyridamole

Anticoagulant
-LMWH

Antihypertensive

  • ACE-inhibitor
  • ARB
  • Calcium channel blockers

Statin

Wafarin
