manage BP and avoid statins
what are the 2 types of ischaemic stroke?
TIA
full ischaemic stroke
when is alteplase given?
for full ischaemic stroke within 4.5 hours of symptom onset
whats the intial management of a TIA?
300mg daily until diagnosis established
whats the inital management of full ischaemic stroke?
300mg for 14 days following alteplase (to be given within 4.5 hours)
what’s the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line treatments for ischaemic strokes?
1st = clopidogrel 75mg OD life long
2nd = MR dipyridamole + aspirin
3rd = MR dipyridamole or aspirin
when do you add statins into management of ischamic stroke?
add high intensity stain 48 hours after ischaemic stroke
