Hold the hair in place with your thumb and gently pull in the direction of the lay of the coat to remove the hair.
Coat type
Wire coated dogs - boarder terrier
Cleaning/maintenance
Stripping knives should be kept clear of hair. Wash regularly with warm soapy water. Disinfected daily in a uv cabinet or other sterilising system) and stored in a box without a lid, away from any moisture.
Advantages
Hand stripping (regularly) will achieve what’s known as a ‘rolled coat’ where the hair fits neatly into each other and the coat becomes both flatter and courser it tends to keep skin problems such as schnauzer bumps, at bay it clears the hair follicles and the dog is less likely to end up with plugged hair follicles and seborrhea.
Disadvantages
1, irregular stripping will cause the coat to ‘blow’ making it a longer and open stripping blown coat causes bald patches.
2, it requires daily maintenance
