De-matting comb/take
A comb with large, sharp blades for splitting through matts & tangles particularly good for dense coats
Coat king
Tool used for the removal of dead undercoat. May be used on silky or wore coated breeds use with care has cutting blades
Flea comb
Fine comb for the removal of fleas
Furminator
Tool for the removal of excess undercoat in double coated breeds
Hound glove
Glove (sometimes rubber, plastic or short bristles) to remove dead hair on short coated breeds
Les pooch slicker brush
A make of slicker brush excellent for the removal of matts ( matt zapper)
Matt breaker
A tool with several curved, sharp hooks for breaking through matts prior to brushing.
Matt splitter
A small plastic tool housing a razor blade for splitting matts use with extreme care.
Pin brush
Padded brush with straight, flexible pins. Good for show coats & for minimising coat breakage.
Scissors
Many different types of scissors, eg straight scissors for general cutting
Thinning scissors (single & double sided)for thinning coats & blending.
Curved scissors for angulation
& different sized scissors for different areas.
Slicker brush
For thorough brushing & separating of coat
Good for fluff drying & general brushing
Use with care so as not to cause breakage or brush burn.
Stripping knife
Metal knife used for handstripping
Stripping stone
A stone used for handstripping/carding
Undercoat rake
Long or short pinned tool for the removal of excess undercoat in heavy coated breeds
